The Winery
In 1986, our winery was among the first to market wines under the “Vinos de la tierra” designation, guaranteeing the origin of Albariño from Salnés. Following this experience, we actively participated in the creation of the renowned Rías Baixas Denomination of Origin, proud to be listed as the 2nd winery in order of registration.
The Albariño grape is a highly aromatic variety, distinguished from other grape types by its high sugar level and high acidity, imparting to our wines an exclusive and balanced freshness and personality, making it the most prestigious and valued variety for its unparalleled nuances.
At the westernmost end of the Celtic Atlantic corridor, in the lands of Galicia, José Chaves Chaves founded the CHAVES winery in 1955, with the same name for its wines. From parents to children, continuity was guaranteed, and the generational change drove the initial dream forward, bringing vigor and momentum to an increasingly stimulating and dynamic project.
